A free, independent resource for anyone who needs to make an international phone call.
International Dialing Guide exists to solve one straightforward problem: international dialing is confusing. Between exit codes, country codes, area codes, trunk prefixes, and the rule about dropping leading zeros, it is easy to dial the wrong number — especially under time pressure or when calling a country you have never called before.
Our goal is to give you the correct dialing sequence in seconds, with clear explanations for why each part of the number is needed. We want every call to connect on the first try.
International Dialing Guide is a free web-based reference tool covering 60 countries. It was built for travelers, businesses, remote workers, and anyone who needs to make or receive international calls. We cover every step of the international dialing process:
Select your origin country and destination country, enter a local phone number, and instantly see the complete international dialing sequence formatted and ready to dial. Works on desktop and mobile, no account needed.
We have published individual step-by-step guides for every combination of our 60 covered countries — that is 3,540 unique pages. Each page includes the full dialing sequence, step-by-step instructions, a time zone comparison showing the hours difference and best time to call, local calling tips specific to the destination country, a full FAQ, and links to related guides from the same origin country.
Our tools page offers a country code lookup table, a phone number formatter, a US area code finder, and a time zone checker. All tools run in your browser — no data is sent to any server.
Our editorial guide explains how international dialing works from the ground up — what the ITU is, how exit codes differ by country, why the trunk prefix rule exists, and how to dial from a mobile phone versus a landline. It includes a full reference table of exit codes for every supported country.
Our country code and exit code data is sourced from publicly available records maintained by the International Telecommunication Union (ITU), which is the United Nations agency responsible for assigning international telephone numbering prefixes. Exit codes are verified against national telecom authority publications for each country.
We review and update our data regularly. If you notice an error or a country's dialing rules have changed, please contact us — we take accuracy seriously.
Country-specific calling tips (mobile number formats, area codes, carrier prefixes) are researched from each country's national numbering plan and publicly available carrier information.
International Dialing Guide is an independently operated reference website. We are a small team focused on making telecommunications information clear and accessible. The site is supported by advertising — we keep the tool itself entirely free and do not require registration or personal information.
We are not affiliated with any telephone carrier, VoIP service, or telecommunications company. Our recommendations (such as using WhatsApp or Skype for low-cost international calls) are provided for user convenience and represent no commercial relationship.
We currently cover 60 countries across six continents. Our coverage includes the most commonly called international destinations as well as a broad range of origin countries so that users worldwide — not just those calling from the USA or UK — can find the dialing sequence they need.
